Thompson Pavilion

Bledose park, on main street, owned by Spring Valley ACTS, Inc. is the site for the
new Thompson Pavilion. Todd Thompson built the pavilion for the community to use
year round. It will be located at the west end of the park where the festival stage has
been stored for so many years. The pavilion has a large cement stage with a cement block
building behind it. A standing seam metal roof covers the stage as well as all of the
building. The building has running water and a toilet in the dressing room. A utility room
is also be part of the design. It is equipped with 200 amp electric with palns to equip it
with lighting and sound control capabilities.
The primary function of the pavilion is to provide a
facility for the annual Potato Festival. However the intent is to develop a year round
schedule of events that can take place, using the facilities. The pavilion is being
donated by Don Thompson as a memorial to wife and daughter Patricia and KathrynThompson.
Son Todd has overseen the project from its inception. The pavilion is being donated
with the spirit that this gift should benefit all that enjoy the pavilion and what it can
provide to the public and especially the Spring Vommunity, for many years to come.
Our appreciation goes out to the Thompson family for their continued
support and dedication to the community of Spring Valley. For this, we shall be
eternally grateful.
